I just picked up a 2020 Venture Edition.

Questions for the people with them, Do you leave the roof rack on all the time of remove it ?

Personally will leave it on while I'm still using the Canoe, but was thinking I would remove it late this fall.

I would remove it when not in use.

The Yakima baskets aren't the greatest, most durable baskets out there and you can usually spot the ones that live on people's roofs all the time - they are dull looking and rusting at the joints.

You'll get a lot more life out of it if you use it only as needed.

Note, I do not have a Venture; but I have a Yakima Loadwarrior (Venture has a Megawarrior, essentially the same but for size).

    Congats! I love mine.

I leave it on all the time. I don't use it but maybe once/month, but I'm too lazy to take it on and off (I also kinda like the way it looks)...

I removed mine, it's reduced fuel economy and looks like a shopping cart when not in use.

Should of checked if it really was a Venture and not a Pro.

Maybe could of got a Pro at a cheaper price if they are that dumb.

I had to remove it because it didn’t fit into my garage. If it did I would have left it on!

I left mine on because everybody kept telling me it looked good. But I might remove it later this fall for the winter months.

I am removing mine after my next camping trip in a month. Did yours come with long screws that are higher than the braces? I wrote to Yakima and they told me that some racks had the wrong bolts and sent me shorter ones.

I took mine off for a few weeks to test the gas mileage without it. I decided I liked the aesthetic more than a little gas so I've left it on ever since. It wasn't a huge difference anyway.

I like the PRO rack better myself, more like the one that was on my FJ. Finding out that the rack on the Venture rack is kind of a novelty when trying to load my canoe on it

I definitely like the look of the pro rack more than the Yakima, but i think having the Yakima rack is more versatile, because i can remove it easily and have other options for my roof using the rails. Like for a roof tent or other type of roof cargo system, like an enclosed Thule carrier. Also it can be removed to fit in a garage. But i agree it seems like it was added as a novelty to make a new vehicle edition.

I'm in process of buying a new Venture, but I think the basket doesn't fit in my garage. Is it easy to remove?

Yes , has 4 brackets you in screw with an Allen wrench. I man handled mine off , was pretty awkward. There are 4 screws in the middle , should come apart in 2 pieces

my 2020 has locks with hand screws, might be some allen wrench bolts, but didn't look that close.
I have not messed with trying to remove it yet. Still using it for my Canoe

Thank you all. The dealer wasn't sure about it. I'm easier making my choice now.

The Allen wrench is for the bar in the middle that can be adjusted to fit the load. The rest is thumb screws to removed plus the lock key.
I would add a picture of a loaded basket with camping equipment but not sure how to do it on this forum. :)

    Hello, just bought a venture!

Did your basket come with the keys for the Yakima brackets?

I haven’t seen any that came with mine and was just curious.

if so, where were they in the vehicle? Thanks!

Sure did. They were in the glove box in a plastic bag, along with instructions for the rack. You also might want to check the jack compartment?

    I removed mine today.
The brackets hold quite a bit of water, I can't imagine the water freezing in the brackets would do them any good
