2018 TRD Off Road w/ TRD Pro Bilstein Suspension Lift Options

Hey guys!

New member here but have been hounding the forums for months and have taken a ton of useful knowledge from it - so thank you for all the helpful posts!!

I have a 2018 TRD OFP with KDSS that I'm going to be lifting. It came originally with the upgraded TRD Pro Suspension and I am not wanting to rip the whole upgraded system out. I found the Toytec +2 kit for TRD Pro models (the bilstein set up I have) and I was wondering if

A) y'all would recommend me just throwing that kit on which makes it +2 front / rear
B) get a slightly larger spacer than what comes with the kit to make the front +2.5 (I already am sitting +1 from this set up from factory I thinkkkkk so idk if +3.5 total is OK on KDSS)
C) say scratch the spacer / thicker collar from Toytec and run a new longer coil up front

2 notes to add - I have already purchased UCA's and will be going on when the lift is installed and I also just installed a lo pro bumper / winch which was around 125lbs. It didn't bring the vehicle down much but I hate to install the + 2 kit and then have a weird stance.

I also have purchased 1 rear coil spacer to correct any tilt that might be there. Would you guys recommend it or will I be ok with just the +2 coils from Toytec in the rear with KDSS.

Lift is scheduled for the end of this month so I still have time to order a new coil spring or thicker spacer if that's what y'all recommend. Thanks !

 

Its hard to say when you start adding bumpers and racks on what the new stance will do. You are best just trying it, then use spacers to make it level once you get all your gear on. Right now mine is 1.75" lift, about 1" higher than a stock PRO, I used the cornfed rear spacers which the left and right are slightly different to account for the lean. I want a bumper like yours, and I wonder adding that if it would drop the front end enough to be noticed. I have the adjustable Bilstein 6112

 

How much lift did toytec say it will give you with the pro setup ? If they say 2” then it’s 2-2.5” with the pro setup. I believe toytec already accounts thst it’s going on a pro suspension.

 

I measured the before stance I just need to find my numbers and I can tell you the difference. I installed the C4 Lo Pro and a Smittybilt x20 with a synthetic line so all in all it isn't super heavy compared to some stuff - I know you can get the bumper in aluminum for an extra charge if you aren't planning on going hard on it. I am curious once I add this Toytec kit if it'll show more sag at that point which is what has me a little worried. I think I'm just gonna install the kit as is for now and then worst case buy new coils for the front end later down the road.

I am not 100% sure that this kit is a pure fit for the KDSS 4 runners either - I have that optional back spacer I purchased to help the lean should there be one. I'm having the kit installed locally and told them the situation - I've read anything past +1.5 on the rear you start to get noticeable lean.

 

It's meant for TRD Pros that come with the factory Bilsteins which come with a slight level to the stance with +1 in the front from what I can tell / have read. I can't find the exact size of the top spacer included with the Toyotec kit online but their website says 2" in the front / 2" in the rear maintaining the factory stance (of the TRD Pro I'm assuming, not regular 4 runner shocks).

I got the exact setup. I have Bilsteins from ‘18 trd pro and installed them on my limited. But I used 2/1.5” Cornfed. My fronts are two spacers. 3/4” preload and 1/4” on top. Overall I’m at 38” on each corner.

 

Love it man! Great set up. What tire are you running? Worst case you do the bumper then decide to throw a heavier / longer coil on the front later on - I THINK there is a coil that OME makes that fits them. I'll try to find my measurements and tell you the difference since it'll be super applicable for you - I am curious if adding the spacers and thicker collar will make it ride a bit stiffer which would be perfect in my case.

 

Maybe tiny bit of rake forward with the bumper?

 

Yeah the shop measured it a 1.5 inch difference from front / rear. That's why I was thinking of the thicker spacer up top than the toytec +2 kit comes with or just running a heavier / longer coil over up front. What would y'all recommend?

Or would a +2 both front / back where it sits look good or do most guys completely level them?

 

I like it leveled as much as possible. Keep in mind if you are "overlanding" a lot where you have tons of gear, then it should be level fully loaded. Likewise when empty it will a slight rake forward. I would consider a spacer than getting a larger coil because there are limited sizes/stiffness on coils and can change the ride quite a bit.
