What have I done? WELL,,,

Was told my order, from a Toyota dealership, cant be purchased and they will be refunding my money on the TRDPro Roof Rack for the 2020 Pro.

Whos got a 2020 Pro and wants to let me use their vin number? Damnit man! Toyota is being a bit testy about this damn roof rack. Its a bitchin roof rack, but damn, its already been copied on ebay.. So just let us buy it Toyota...

Had my 4Runner almost a month and a half (traded my 2007 FJ) loving it. Since purchasing I’ve added. Xenon H16 yellow with lamin-X film, wetokole seat covers, TRD skid plate, plastic dipped front and rear bumpers, weather tech mats and phone holder,Ambul receiver hitch, Thule roof rack and black out for Toyota emblem on steering wheel.

 

Put my new tap and dye set to good use. Removed broken bolt, tapped the threads and cleaned the bolts. Back in business!

 

hope I’m not too late to the party! Who’s got one. Personally, I love the look.

 

Nice job. I use a small amount of anti-seize lubricant on the Threads, and don’t over tighten the bolts.

Good to know that I’m not alone; I’ve snapped off two and never over tighten … just cheap metal I guess!
Where did ya pick up new replacement bolts & size?

 

If you have any plans to use the roof for storage, I’d put the money towards a useful rack. The pro rack has a weight limit of like 110lbs and is too awkwardly sized to fit anything worthwhile.

 

I have no plans for roof rack other than I love the look. And I’m not a big fan on full size roof racks.

 

Installed door edges and handle recesses with 3M protection film today. This is for you wifey! LOL

I only broke one so I will most likely just go to the dealer and replace it there. 4Wheel parts must have snapped two other ones because I have brand new shiny ones on the rear of the plate that weren't there before. I also never over tighten. The last one was barely tight when it snapped.

 

Easy and cheap to replace all the skid bolts with grade 8. Will save lots of headaches down the road.

 

Yes, I believe that's what they used. I might just go to my local hardware store to match them.

 

Mine came from dealership new W/edge guards of course it was added on stricker price. Gotta say I do like them though!

 

Changed oil/filter/filter housing. No issues, just like 2012 FJ only difference is the plastic trim on front of skid panel to allow it to pivot down for removal/installation. I took skid panel off W/that installed, But removed it for easier reinstall of Skid Panel. I used the screw in filter drain I saved from FJ days W/PVC tube attached.Also switched out the stand pipe from plastic bowl to new Aluminum, taller I guess the lexus uses a shorter filter. Anyone need OEM plastic fiter housing? All in all about an hour, put Mastinox on all bolts.That shit NEVER dries up Great stuff!

 

I had a xenon depot HID kit on my taco that I was quite happy with... and when taco turned into 4Runner, I transferred the kit over.

...but, I wasn’t as happy with the results on the 4R. Sure the light was bright and clear, and still way better than the stock bulb, but the throw wasn’t great; even when I tried aiming them higher (which resulted in getting flashed a couple times, so that was short lived).

I was close to pulling the trigger on new full headlight assemblies, when I came across info on the H9 bulb swap.

So that’s what I did today. Removed the HID kit, and did the H9 Phillips Standard bulb swap. You just need to snip the smaller tab in the connector to fit the stock harness, and then trim a bit off of one of the tabs. Was quick and easy with a small pair of flush cut shears.

Will have to wait for a night drive to see if it’s a good improvement or not. Of course bulb longevity is going to be a concern as well... but time will tell.

 

I did the H9's right after I bought my 4runner. Am very happy W/results! I was surprised how weak the stock H11's were compared to my 2015 Tacoma low beams. Also switched fog to LED WAY better than stock bulbs.

 

I'm REAL close to Plastic dipping Frt/RR Valances. Can you take the Frt off W/out removing the whole frt Bumper?? I saw how there's not much to removing the whole bumper. Or I may just mask off & spray in place .

 

I did my front and rear without taking taking them off. Watched about an 8 minute video on YouTube and masked/tapped everything off. It worked as advertised on video.

 

Yeah I watched a couple You tubes, that's what I'm leaning towards. So do you leave a little area for "over Spray & then peel off? How many coats did you apply? I figure the frt will take all the beating so the guy I watched did 7 coats on Frt, I believe 5 on RR. Probably go to Home Depot & get the Plastic Dip & 9"x 180' roll of mask paper. Got plenty of painters tape & cleaning prep/stuff. I actually have painters line tape, not sure I need to waste it W/ Plastic Dip?

Do you surf/have wet clothes a lot ? One of the reasons I wanted the premium was to avoid seat covers .. but I do have some throw-over type covers for messy trips.

 

That is the video I watched and was amazed at how easy the overage pealed off (like on the above video) i applied 6 coats.
Wetokole seat covers are great (I’ve had them before) I don’t surf but do a lot of water activities; scuba, kayaking, swimming, beach trips and backpacking and camping. Also take my dogs along for some of the above listed adventures and adventures of their own. The seat covers are easy to clean and very durable.

 

I wish the backs of my rear seats had hard plastic as well as the bottom of the cargo area. Essentially, I want a runner with a Tacoma bed

 

I had to look a bit but here is my experience with plastidip. I hope it helps. If the front chips, you can touch it up or respray for cheap!

Looks excellent! Get the dip spray to keep them looking shiney! Is that the gunmetal? It appears to match the other rear bumper piece exactly.
