Are the SEMA and Pro wheels the same thing? Or are they two different wheels entirely?

I’ve read that the SR5 wheels are 8” and the others are 7”. If this is the case, does a tire get a little taller when installed on a 7” wheel vs. an 8” wheel?

Matte grey (SEMA) vs black (Pro)

    SR5 are 7". TRDOR are 7.5". Pro/SEMA are 7".

i think if your going to not mod to much, the stock TRD pro wheels are great looking wheels. that's why so many people have them.

How is the Plastidip holding up on the rims? Happy with rims we have, want them black on the 4Runner and our Taco too.

I have a rule that I can't bring myself to put TRD wheels on a SR5. Makes me feel like a poser. So, if I change wheels it will either be to the FN or SCS

This is my rule too, not that I fault anyone who does, but I just can't put the TRD badge on my rig. Though I did make an exception when I powder coated the Trail (ORP) wheels I picked up on Marketplace as they only had the Toyota badging on them. Of course I am biased but these are an awesome wheel and look really slick once they are powder coated. Best part.....no fitment issues!

The powder coating is holding up great after a year. I've done a good job of avoiding curbs...lol

While they do look great, makes me feel like a poser getting them on the TOR. it seems everybody is sporting them, regardless of the trim.
Be unique, like everybody else :)
If i am changing them, I am going 3rd party for sure, at least I am making it MINE.

All you need is a little tweak to be unique. I found a website that makes custom rim center cap epoxy resin stickers. You just send them the diameter of what you want and a custom picture. High quality stuff in my opinion. It's an option anyway. You can get the TRD wheels and make them your own with a custom logo that hides the TRD.

The company is in the Ukraine though I believe. So it's going to take a month or so to get what you ordered. I ordered some last year that I didn't end up using, but I was happy with the quality.

What is that wrap on your scoop? I like the look of the scooped hood but the sun glare that comes off when driving towards the sun is a killer

I just went to a local recommended vinyl wrap place and told them what I wanted, the vinyl shop charged me $39, 3M vinyl in flat gunmetal. You could buy the vinyl and do it yourself. I have mixed experiences with vinyl wrap so I left that one to the pros.

The TE wheels are better than the Pro? How so? I prefer the TE wheels anyway. It would be killer if they were better too!

TE/OR wheels are 1/2" wider (7.5" vs 7") and they have valve stem protection. It's up to you to decided if that makes them better. Otherwise, they are both solid, reliable OEM wheels.

The TE/TRD off road wheels are a much better wheel than the pros imo.

‍♂️ I don’t particularly care what others think of my vehicles, or how I modify them. I do what I think looks good. That being said, I’ve never heavily modified any of my cars/trucks, but I did just order black TRD wheels for my OR. The OR wheels are my least favorite of all the stock wheels.

If I needed to stand out in the crowd, I sure as sh*t wouldn’t have bought one of the most common SUVs on the road, especially in the soccer mom crowd. Point is, I do what I like to my ride, you do what you like to yours.

I think the point is why pay extra for factory wheels.

But of course its your ride. I really can't say anything I paid just to get the damn Toyota cooler.

But Or rims looks nicer than the PRO...

    Yes, agreed.

But why? Anything else beyond what’s already been said? 7.0” vs 7.5” wider and valve stem protection? They’re easier to clean? Anything else?

That's pretty much it. "Better" is subjective depending on use. If you plan to run 285's and do some serious off-roading than the TRD wheels are superior due to 7.5" width and valve stem protection. If you are not planning on those things than it is a toss up. Both are quality rims and will serve you well.
