What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I dunno, the brand’s name gives me mixed feelings.

 

Basically, so i ordered the speakers from crutchfield, and they come with the brackets and wire harnesses. You have to attach the new speakers to the new bracket and then clip the new harness to the terminals with spade connectors, then bolt the bracket into the vehicle and then its plug and play.... Sounds worse than it is... It took more time to take the door panels off than anything.

 

Put my pro skid plate back on today. I took it off for my first free oil change / service from the dealership as per the advice from many people on this and the other forum. But boy was it a pain in the ass to re-install!

 

Washed the Wilderness rubber mats, vacuumed & wiped down interior/doors W/Zurich I got when I had dealership do the coating at new.

 

Well, while other rigs keep getting higher, mine went lower. Not suspension wise but added OEM running boards. So, I think I am finally done with mods for a while. Most are simple and cosmetic but it is just what I wanted. My mods are:


USR blackout tails

Carid smoked third brake light

OEM Nightshade running boards

AJT steering wheel emblem overlay

Canadian spec. 7 passenger cargo mats

Morimoto elite LB HID

XD HB LED with DRL drivers

Blackout OEM LED fogs

20% ceramic tint all around

RAD Rubber engine splash guards

Runnin 4 Tacos smoked mirror signals

OEM RAV4 blindspot mirrors

Black stainless door latch covers

 

What is different about Canadian spec cargo mats? Instead of "4Runner" do they say "4Runner, eh?"

 

Does not read 4Runner, but has Toyota Logo. Looks like this and you do not have to remove or roll it up to raise the seats.

 

Got a good source for this cargo mat? I'd really like one of those!

 

Did you have any issue with connecting the CARiD 3rd brake light? I ordered the Red one (because for some reason from new it white) last spring & no way their connector was close to OEM one. I sent picture to them & they gave me a hard time refunding my $$ wasn't much just the principle! I went W/another brand fit perfect.

no, it hooked right up and worked just fine...that’s weird.

 

Here's what I received from them. The top Grey in OEM the bottom Black is CARiD



As you can clearly see that there was no way the OEM Plug would fit into that socket. I triple checked their web site before I purchased it & it claimed to fit. Maybe it was miss boxed??

 

I think mine looked like the bottom one IIRC. Take a look at the electrical pins inside of yours...they look a little bent. Maybe you just need to straighten/align them and try again.

 

I need to call Toyota, still can NOT figure out WHY the 3 Pax Door window controls will NOT physically move to put the respected window UP?!? I'm in Miami next week for work & hope to have down time during to call & get some kind of answer.

 

Installed my Gobi stealth along with a Rigid E-series Midnight edition 40" light bar. Love this set up. I also installed an ARB dual compressor mount, but the wiring is a bit too much for me, so I'll be bringing it to a local truck shop just to wire it up for me.

Just cleaned up after 4 days of camping in southern Oregon / northern California. Decided to make the trip with a buddy too late to mail order the paper Oregon BDR maps, so we pieced together some righteous dirt roads with the help of a Delorme Gazeteer and some half ass on the fly navigation from our passengers instead. 950 miles with about half of that on dirt. No pics of the cleanup but it was a somewhat prolonged process because I can't not splash through the big holes...

 

Wow! All those shots are amazing, but this one in particular is epic! This should be a 4Runner ad.

Related: buddy has a 13 4R with new Wrangler ATS... 2 flats on the trip including one which was a catastrophic blowout from a rock slice. 0 issues with the Destinations!

He ran out of spares! My patch kit and air compressor to the rescue on the less damaged tire...

have 19,500+ as of today, going to Miami tomorrow thi Thurs. So I won't be over 20k BUT plan on doing the 1st for me oil & filter change next weekend.Guess I'll stick with Pennzoil, have used it for years. Have Filter/Filter Bowl/Filter wrench on order for Amazon. Due here Wed. I just viewed a couple of You tube videos on this. Looks just like my old 2012 FJ oil & filter R&R. I have never replaced drain gasket. But I may start W/this one. I guess I can get one & Advanced Auto or Auto Zone. Found some At both places except I don't think in stock today.
