Think I'm very close to settling on a new 2020 4runner TRD Off-road... question is, which color!? It's basically the only stock aspect I can change, haha

In terms of getting one in hand, it'll be more like october earliest wouldn't it? I also haven't heard about any 2021 changes apart from "trail editions" which I wouldn't get... so I def don't care about color ENOUGH that I'd wait for that alone

I'm a huge fan of blue but the white to me is the best looking color on a 4runner. When we bought my wife's 20 TRD ORP we were in a pinch to get a vehicle as her 2 month old Camry got totaled, she really wanted magnetic but our dealer only had silver in the premium at that time. My 2017 Tundra was silver but about a month before she got her 4runner I traded for a 2020 magnetic Tundra. She likes her silver but again wishes she had a magnetic. It's really all about personal preference. Like I said we were in a pinch and needed a vehicle, she knew what she wanted as far as trim but settled on color with the silver. Pic for reference as I like to show it off and we find ourselves switching vehicles often because I love the 4runner and she loves the Tundra.

Initially the magnetic grey stood out to me the most.. it's dark, but clearly distant from black. My current car is white and it's a really nice white... but I think the white for the 4runner isn't as nice, plus with the amount of black on it it looks like a storm trooper (and not a star wars fan)...

The red is interesting and would stand out in any conditions (snow, dirt, green forest, etc.) but it can also maybe be a bit jarring

I love my MGM, even though I originally wanted to get away from the gray. It goes well with the black aftermarket parts.

If keeping it stock, I really like Nautical Blue.

You could shop around local dealers for the best price on the options you want, and go with whatever color is in stock. I know a guy who did that.

    Also, welcome to the forum!

I'm trading in which potentially makes shopping around a more annoying process? Someone giving the most aggressive trade-in value could offset taxes and whatnot...

But yes, I do want to get the best price :)

I got offered an obscene trade-in for my Tacoma before I started talking about price. I'm sure the dealer intended to make it up out of the potential discount on the 4runner. I walked out and emailed a few other dealers for their best price. Of course, the original dealer offered to match the price, but suddenly could only offer me $4K less than they originally quoted me for the Tacoma. I was about to walk out when suddenly they were able to come back up $3K on the trade.

I'm not sure if you can work your deal the same way, but I thought I'd share. One key is that I genuinely wasn't planning to buy the day I originally test drove. I told them that, which is probably why they offered me so much, to get me to buy right away. Luckily, I left and kept shopping.

I went with White for a couple of reasons. They were of equal importance. One was cleanliness. Having just gotten rid of a black car, I didn’t want to do that battle again. The other was the other vehicles. My wife’s 2019 TRD PRO Tacoma is white and so is our 2006 SLK55 AMG ..... now everything is matchy-matchy!

We ended up with silver. I wanted white and they had a white in the same configuration, but Toyota's white paint isn't very good. I have friends and family that have had issues with white chipping already and it's not clear coated.

I really like the white look or sure, but silver it is on the 4R & Tacoma. Good luck with your decision!

    BTW, it’s Attitude Black Metallic

EDIT: it’s Midnight Black Metallic but the same paint code as Attitude Black Metallic. I guess both are 218.

I went with white because my daughter liked it over the gray. I really wanted the red but my wife has a red Subaru Forester.

    A couple thoughts...

From anything over three feet, the silver looks clean even when it’s dirty. That’s one advantage of silver.

I like black vehicles, but on the 4runner, there’s not a lot of contrast between the black paint and the tinted widows. It kinda all blends together. Imo black isn’t the best color on the runner. And it’s a bear to keep the swirls at bay.

MGM is a nice compromise between silver and black.

I’ve been trying to decide the same thing as you. What color to get next... I’ve never liked the blue ones but it’s really growing on me. Barcelona red is nice, too. But it’s kind of maroon?

    Decisions decisions...

I don’t think Cement and Army Green will be available in the OR? I thought it was just the Trail edition (or Venture? I get the special names/years mixed up sometimes).

If that’s the case... why!!!! So many people would like an OR in Army or Cement! An OR in either of those colors would sell like crazy!

My preference is white because I’ve wanted to do a monochrome look for awhile. Plus it really does last the longest between washes and from what I’ve seen it doesn’t seem to have clear coat issues like some colors do over time. I came from a white 1999 Toyota Tacoma that literally had nothing wrong with the paint when I sold it in March. The exact same day my 4 runner was delivered. I just think over time white, dark grey, and dark blue are the colors you can look at every day for 10+ years. But then I keep cars for days. FDC38792-2D22-484F-BAC7-9EEE4C97DD3B.jpg

Of course these are all personal opinions and your choice is based on yours and there’s nothing wrong with any of the colors. Unless they did yellow.

Hmmm, that’s odd, If you look up vehicles with the VIN on Toyota’s website some will still say 218 Attitude Black Metallic. Same 218 paint code for both.

That's the one thing about Barcelona Red I don't like.......that there's a maroon quality to it. I'd much rather it be a fire engine red.

This is correct. The Cement and Army Green will only be available in the Trail Edition which is part of the SR5 trim. Venture is part of the OR trim and will not offer any special colors.

I’d say white... assuming you’re capable of owning a white vehicle without pretending it’s a Storm Trooper :bananadance:

That's funny.. The maroon look is one of the things I liked about it. My '15 Taco looked almost orange in the sun and maroon in the shade. I thought it was pretty cool.

You can usually order any color you want (that's offered on your vehicle and trim). Sometimes you can get a better deal taking a vehicle that's in stock. It varies by dealer.

MGM is the best color, so it might be worth ordering.:D

Dealers trade vehicles with other dealers all the time. So if they don’t have what you want, they’ll find one at another dealer and go get it for you.

I vote for Barcelona Red, but I may be a bit biased... I rarely see another one on the road and I always catch myself staring at it in parking lots and my driveway because of how cool it looks whether it is clean or covered in mud from offroading

The red does look nice and stands out beautifully in nature. First pic looks great, but once it's got a layer of dirt on it it looks a lot more bland red... not as nice!
