Have you ever tried baking bacon vs frying it?

I think it makes less mess, has a better consistency, and has just the right texture, but the downside is that you need to pull it from the oven at just the right time for how you like your bacon - chewy crisp, etc...

I've fried it over the years and now I prefer to bake it.
I bake it in a single layer on a non-stick sheet pan at 390 for 8-14 minutes, depending on the thickness of the bacon slices. Yes, 390 is a setting on that old gas oven we have up at the lake.

We were at the lake cabin over the weekend (never left the property while there until we came home) and baked another batch for breakfast, unfortunately there were no pictures - my bad.

I bake mine in a small convection oven. I use a sheet with a rack on it so the bacon isn't laying in the grease. I definitely prefer this method.

I used to love thick, soggy bacon. Lately I prefer thin, crispy bacon. It's weird getting old.

    Definitely baked.

I put a layer of parchment paper down on the baking sheet and then a single layer of bacon on top of that. If you do it right, you can just slide the whole mess off the pan into the trash and don't even have to clean the baking sheet. So much easier.

Also, you can always finish it off with a quick broil if you like it crispy.

It's really good! I just put it on baking sheet lined with foil. 350 for like 10 mins a side

Oh yeah, you can also sprinkle a little brown sugar on top of it before it's done baking.

    So good!

I usually cook it on a big flat electric griddle, but do occasionally bake it if it's good thick bacon, and/or if making candied bacon.

    No! But I can imagine!

Another hazard of baking bacon is spilling the grease pulling it out of the oven. I haven't had an issue, but my brother burned his forearm pretty bad a few years ago!

Sorry for the delay in setting up the poll, I've been spending a lot of time at the lake doing spring/opening chores and haven't even checked in here in weeks.

Baking it is great when you have a lot to cook. Especially when the whole family is gathered at the lake.

Exactly our situation at the lake (Prairie chain of lakes, Cameron/Chetek) since my wife's family (4 siblings and their clans) all come up during the summer. The lake place is a summer-only structure but it's been in her family for 60+ years.

Baked bacon is unequivocally better bacon, change my mind through objective reasoning!

We usually use thicker cut or cut straight from the belly. 400 F about 10-12 minutes!
