What features/options on current 4Runners do you like or dislike?

Do you have to push the nanny buttons? I s'pose you could cover them with a big hunk o' steel or plastic so you're not tempted.

I'm on the fence about the manual. I do like driving a clutch. But I've gotten lazy in my old age.

I do miss the 5.7 Hemi in my Ram. It's a whole different animal altogether. Just like a TJ.

 

Perhaps a less expensive option would be to swap out the 6112's for some eibach adjustable struts and keep the coils you're currently running.

Although the Eibachs are technically digressive still, they have a bleeder valve early in the travel that makes them feel progressive at slow speeds. Best of both worlds, IMO. I'm sure you could sell the 6112's pretty easy and the Eibachs are pretty inexpensive in the first place. Just a thought.

Or you could go Kings. They'd be awesome, I'm sure!

 

I wish the cruise control was on the left hand side of the steering and possibly handled differently other than a lever arm.

 

Overall I'm happy with the Bilsteins. I'm going to stick with them until I can do Kings. Or, until I change my mind!

I was running gravel roads at 38 PSI, so I'm betting that airing down a bit would help as well.

 

Actually this is one of the things that annoys me that I forgot about. You can't just have your parking lights on if you are parking against traffic or something at night. By default if you have parking lights on the DRLs are also on.

I actually disabled my DRLs in part for this reason.

 

Would like to be able to run the fog lights without the headlights. My Tacoma allows this.

If I'm in mud or snow and I want to get some wheel speed, nanny kicks in.
If I want to push the brake pedal hard, nanny kicks in.

indeed!! I would love to build a 60's or early 70's GMC/Chevy 3/4 or 1 ton, 4WD P/U, to use as a Camper/Jeep hauler.
Since right now my only Jeep hauler is a 27' Moho. But at least its got a 496ci big block in it. The 4R falls short to tow 7,000 lbs.
Hmm, lets see. Early P/U, Cummins or Cat motor, NV4500, Atlas 5:1, D60/14-bolt and leaf springs as my basic build....

 

Could do without the Nanny brake assist and the rear wiper, Plastic interior that scratches if you look sideways, windshield that chips if you hit a bug and the DRL can go away. Fixed the "Cadillac float" by installing the Eibach kit and disabled the carnival lights and beeping with carista. Just need to do the DRL "delete" mod. Need a good back seat delete kit for those that don't need space for their trophies.

 

Went from a 4th gen to a '20. It's been nice but the infotainment system is horrible on so many levels.

 

When I need a dose of old time stuff I climb into 1967 FJ40 Land Cruiser and hit some dirt. That brings me back to the present and my nanny buttons. But I do really like the new 4 Runner

 

My favorite thing is the windshield wiper heater.

I know, that might be a very soccer mom thing to like, but it's so hilarious that I have to love it. I never had one before, and I didn't even know I had it until after I got my 4Runner.

I have a 2020, so this might not apply for older ones. The Toyota GPS might be a turd, but I do like that it shows the speed limit and the road you're on if you have the compass display on between the gauges. I wasn't going to bother updating the GPS when the time times (Android Auto gives you much better routes), but once I saw the speed limit and the road you're on, I knew it could help with unfamiliar areas.

 

And of course, for the entertainment of those with a chip on their shoulders, Toyota has kindly provided our 4Runners with several blank locations for adding new additional buttons!

 

SBC or just a shorty exhaust? At one time, I had 3 Cruisers, a GPW and my TJ.

 

No chip on my shoulder here, but I've already used one for my ditch light switch.

 

There is a fix for this! I am not sure if you push the lock or unlock, but one of them you hold it until it beeps a couple of times, and then they all lock and unlock together. This really annoyed me too until I fixed it.

 

Still not understanding why this happens.

 

Thanks for the info. As I stated originally, I'm aware you can make the changes but I'd rather not unlock all of my doors at once every time I walk up (call me paranoid lol). I have a coworker who has a 2015 or 2016 Mazda 3 that does the same as my other half's Tiguan: Grab the door handle once, the driver's door unlocks. Grab it a second time, all doors unlock.

 

Definitely paranoid.
