Did this mod 6 months ago but made my own bracket. Finished product looked the same as the picture in the above link. In combination with the side steps, this mod is well worth installing.

Shrockworks sliders with dimpled tread plate solved the problem for me.

Did not do a write up because a write up was already posted and at the moment I can't remember who posted. Was searching the site to see if anyone had successfully done this. Probably was the same one referenced in this thread. At the time he wasn't offering a bracket for sale so I just dug into the junk box and found some metal strapping to make the bracket. If you are not comfortable with metal fabrication it might be best to purchase a bracket. The bracket is for the lower bolt as the upper bracket is already there. The scary part is locating the hole you must make in the a-pillar trim panel. Of course the added bracket must be located on the a-pillar in such a way as to match the hole centers of the handle. This mod can be intensive so the rule of thumb is to think carefully, measure 3 times and cut or drill once!

Does this mod interfere with any airbags?

Will not interfere with airbag deployment. Just be careful working around the airbag. Best to disconnect negative battery lead while working around airbags.

Searched for a grab handle post today after the wife broke the folding handle off getting into the rig. For as much money as these vehicles cost, the lack of a driver side door pillar handle combined with the overhead cheap folding handle is ridiculous.

Now you can add the a-pillar grab handle, AND replace the broken folding one above the door with a solid grab handle from an FJ Cruiser.

Good idea, it does not look too hard and the other type of handles are much nicer. I found the thread on the other board.

Exactly. I had actually forgotten about that thread, but thanks for reminding me. I personally would go the route WAT4R did in post #22 - using T-nuts instead of the rivnut approach. Simpler, less work, and reversible, should one want to.
