Need a quiet exhaust. Last summer I put a cat back on from MBRP, loud as hell. Swapped out mufflers for a Magnaflow and its alot better but still at certain rpm's the muffler resinence is annoying. Im ready to go get a stocker and put back on. Any ideas ? Would Borla be quiet ? Lets face it the V6 doesnt sound the greatest and ive realized the older I get the quiet is ok by me.

If you think Magnaflow is loud I'd go back to stock. That's not a comment to be an ass, but personal opinion is that Magnaflow is one of the more "tame" exhausts.

what type of magnaflow do you have? If you have the shorter case, you could opt for one of the longer cases and it should reduce the exhaust note. The size of the exhaust tip may also reduce overall noise, but probably negligible.

I have this exhaust (http://www.dtexhaust.com/product_in...ucts_id=216&osCsid=1tsf27kfp5vbeje7ogr4mtoj91) and I am very pleased with both the overall sound both in and outside the cabin. It’s not loud at all unless you really step on it or at a severe incline.

I like the sound of the exhaust, i just had a Flowmaster put on. It is kind of calming for me.

I was thinking of swapping the Magnaflow for a larger Flowmaster 50 series SUV muffler. its about 4" longer in the body than what I have now.

So I've driven with the trd exhaust for about 6 months and now have stock on the new runner. Maybe I'm just getting old and all, the trd sounds cool but I don't miss it one bit. Pretty sure I'm sticking with stock this time around. Quiet is pretty cool also:homer:

I had my '03 for probably 11 years before I put on a Gibson cat-back. I thought it was cool for a bit, but quickly got tired of the drone at highway speeds.

I like hearing the engine while accelerating, but I can't stand a constant drone.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
I installed a Borla 40665 muffler. Just the muffler, stock pipes. I like the sound, no drone at all but you hear it when you get on it. Here's a link, go to post 5838. For about $100 I think it's a great improvement over the way too quiet stock muffler.

Well just an update. I installed a 50 suv series Flowmaster last night in place of the Magnaflow. I can live with this. Little noise when accelerating but it is at tailpipe not droning at muffler.

How are you liking that muffler? I have a magnaflow 11226 (14") without the res. It sounds pretty good. Pretty loud but purs. Only issue is at around 1400-1500 RPMs. Kinda sounds droney and not mean. I'm gonna give it a few more months since I've only had it for a month now. I hear the one you got sounds great on the V6.

I have a Borla x/s sport. Pretty quiet exhaust but certain resonance is mildly annoying, but nothing if you have music on

I have Borla touring exhaust I think. It sounds better than TRD exhaust and cheaper. I don't get any roar in cabin but I can hear it which is what I want for working gears with gas pedal. It has million mile warranty. I think there's another model I thought I was getting but I like this one. Good power better mileage. $700 versus $1000. I like it low speed chugging. It has a nice deep rumble but it doesn't interfere with anything. Hanger before tip needs to be bent upward about. 25-.5 inches so it don't vibrate against bumper cover when cold. Otherwise it was really easy. You can use copper RTV for exhaust gasket to. I have 20 year old header crossover pipe sealed with it and haven been able to get apart.
