Has anyone had to replace their AC/Heater Blower?

Owner of a 2016 4RTP and over this past year I’ve noticed the blower fan speed has decreased no matter what speed settings I have it on.…changed out cabin filter many times during oil changes … last time pulled out leaves which I still can’t believe they got that far… Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone has replaced there’s yet and if you’re able to get something stronger, faster, etc?

 

Although the vehicle to me heats up in decent time I've noticed the fan doesn't move air as fast as other vehicles I've had.

 

Check and see if your dial is set in between the icons on the dial that sets where you want the air to go. Some times that makes a difference.

The blower motor looks pretty easy on our models. I saw a guy detailing it on a youtube video a while back. As I recall, just a couple bolts under the glove box and the fan assembly drops out. If the output isn't good, make sure the filter is clean.

Very easy to do. I wanted to replace mine and choose a non oem model to save $. Reason i wanted to change out mine is stock motor is louder than it should be. If im riding with music off, i can hear the fan spinning. Bad bearing probably and dealer doesn't want to change out since its working. Its a couple screws and maneuvering to get to them is the hardest part. I swapped mine out but the cheapo part was twice as bad! I returned the part and am just ignoring the noise for now.

 

Just curious did you purchase at O’Rileys, Advance, AutoZone or another parts retailer? … going to replace mine this weekend; Also, I know you said that you returned it, but do recall brand so I can stay away from buying?

 

It was a seller on Amazon. Not sure of the name but you are probably better off going to an actual parts store. I think oem is somewhere around $130. I prob paid like $25 for the cheapo part... good luck and let us know how it goes.

 

remove the blower and see if the debris is blocking the air box/evap/heater core..
remove the wiper blades remove the intake air plastic grill clean up that mess. also put rat wire on the fender ports that will cause rodent/leaves and other debris block up the air flow .. I did all this ..
use an air compressor with a blow wand to blast the air box vents etc...

dc blower motors have a limited rpm speed with the fan attached and a full flow of air to the blower fan. with a restriction of air to the fan the motor will over rev and damage the motor.
ac motors have coils/windings and those with various loads will do a consistent RPM..many had these fail because they did not clean or replace the air filter . then they put the speed to the max with a dirty filter then the motor is failing slowing down over heating .

Just had my bow fan replaced on my 4R Pro. It was making a un-normal humming noise at low blower speeds.

 

Mine makes weird humming noises when on low speeds. 2018.

 

I had to replace a blower motor on my 2005 SR5 with 110,000 miles.

If it’s under warranty, take it in and get it replaced.

 

Finally got around to replacing “Blower Motor & Cabin Air Filter” this past Saturday on my 2016 4RTP because for the last 2 months the noise from the bearings was about to drive me nuts! Took about 20 mins but I waited til about sunset to change; think it got 102 degrees here in Tennessee that day. I did find more debris inside the fan housing and the filter was pretty nasty again … Now I’m wondering if there’s a leak somewhere. Anyway it’s back to working normal again!

well Toyota did a poor job on the air intake plastic grill under the wiper arms. I had the filters get loaded with tree crap.. so I put on window house insect screen under the plastic grill.. used a glue gun to fasten it to the plastic grill.. less mess in the filter.. better flow and when the filter is loaded with crap the fan motor will over speed and get damaged..less air motor over speeds bearings get damaged..

 

Sounds like that would definitely help things! … Is it difficult to remove this piece to and install the screen? … Pic’s?

 

wiper removal then use the plastic tool removal fingers spray the plastic parts with water and dish soap.. then pry using the plastic tool and they pop off easier.. glue gun works good to hold the alum screen under the plastic air grill..then if its messed up again then easy to remove the alum screen and wash it down and glue it back on.. My GM vehicles have that screen under the plastic grill so very little mess in the blower filter box..

I also removed the roof cross bars using the same tools and the dish soap. the roof covers were loaded with tree mess under the covers.. covers popped off easy removed the cross rails. why did I remove them snow removal is difficult so their gone and very easy to slide off the snow on the roof...
on the internet there are some videos of the removal .
another thing I did was put a weather tape around the windshield sharp edges... protects from glass damage and the gap loads up with dirt hyway speed the noise is much less.. I did it on my GM 2000 truck ..less noise @70MPH..
