I admit functionally I cant store much up there. But to me, these racks make the pros more unique looking.

Absolutely useless for my uses and in my opinion, all for looks.

The factory roof rails offered on the other models is more function with Thule or Yakima crossbars.

This is more useful and actually looks better too...and prob cheaper! Would need to fabricate some mounting points and then done. Major improvement over the stock rack.

It would be awesome to find one of your prankster friends, team up and make one of them fitted to a runner then bolt it too your roof. Would make for a good tv prank. No?

Funny. An you can fit a lot more back packs to it than you can the stock rack. Which is about all the stock rack is good for, a back pack or two.

I don’t like it because you can’t really put long flat stuff up there (2x4’s, large boxes, mattresses, etc, basically everything I use my standard rack for).

I guess you could, but it’d be like 8” higher than it would be with a standard rack and the cross bars would be closer together.

My two cents. It’s just not as useful as a standard rack.

I have a truck and /or trailer for hauling if needed.
The wife drives the 4R and she loves the TRD rack looks..
    It’s reminiscent of her FJ.

I don’t understand the obsession with other peoples choices on how they spend their money.. all I can say is get a life, or a girlfriend.

I'm in for the looks only....

I'm too old to put stuff on the roof anyways!

Same here. I like the look, and probably wouldn't put much up there anyway. The standard roof rack looks like a lot of the racks on many other SUVs out there to me.

I had a 4th 4runner for 15yrs. Only thing that was ever placed on the rack was an Xmas tree.

Same here, I’m sure other after market racks would be a lot more useful but if the Pro model had the same rack the other trim levels had, it’s wouldn’t be noticeable as a Pro model.

I don't agree but are you saying that so many people have copied the other appearance items on the PRO model that now the only way to recognize an original PRO is with a rack? I believe the VIN number also identifies the PRO.

So you don’t think Toyota had the Pro model look different roof rack just because? I think the pro model has certain parts different than the standard 4Runner so it would look different.

Yes Toyota had it look different, how else can they trick people into paying $10000 more for an Off Road/Trail with bolt on appearance items and a slightly better suspension? There are still ways to identify a PRO vs a PRO copy then just the rack however. The VIN is the sure way.

Exactly, make it look different and add certain options depending on what you want. As far as 10k markup, I've seen that on the Supra, Raptor, etc.

Why the pro rack, let alone stock rails wouldn’t serve me well.

Does anyone know how to adjust the rails on the basket rack? I need to raise on to the top bar in order to put my snowboard rack on without the boards hitting the back rail. Been looking all over for info on it but have not seen anything on it. Thanks in advance... Upgraded from a 16 pro.

I'm assuming you would have to unscrew the outside screws to get the bar disconnected from the holder?

yes take it all the way out and the bottom half of the clamp will come off. The inner knobs will alter the length. I changed mine so all of the slats are in the bottom.

I moved mine down as well, and haven't had much issue putting stuff up there... ski cargo box, bike rack, some random lumber from Home Depot...
