The center console on a RX350 has many electronic goodies.

    1. A mouse to control a lot of functions
    2. Transmission selector.
    3. Handling mode selector
    4. heated seat switches
    5. Cooling switches for seats
    6. Electronic parking brake switches
    7. map switches (4)
    8. heated steering wheel switch.

Guess what is in the very middle of all these electronic items?

    2 cup holders!!!

A friend told the story of the lady that had her car towed in with total computer failure.
She knocked over a large Diet Mountain Dew and it went into everything electronic.

$5000.00 later she was told the warranty does not cover accidents causing damage to the car. Her insurance also said no.

P.S. It wasn't mine so you can quit laughing.

I had a Rockstar energy drink roll under my passenger seat and hit a seat bolt and subsequently rupture and spray under the seat. My airbag warning light came in indicating the airbags were disabled. A little north of $1100 in damages.

These interiors have no IP rating haha

I really don't know. We don't drink in any of the cars. I guess if you spilled a can of paint all over the interior would the insurance pay to reupholster the car? If your buddy vomits al over the interior , does insurance pay to clean /repair everything? Good question. How about your Chihuahua chews everything up while you go shopping? I'm waiting for somebody in the insurance business to chime in.:crapstorm:

I paid, warranty was non applicable due to it being my fault. Strangely they said the warranty applied but changed their mind after beginning work.

The dealer will also tell you that you need a complete new axle when all you need is to rebuild the E-locker actuator. So there is that side of things.

I guess if I were my car and towed to the dealer and they said it will not be covered by warranty , and then , said " do you want us to repair it" I would say yes. I sure wouldn't say, no , just have the tow company return and I'll do something else.

Wrangler Duratracs, center console organizer & trav all 1576 dog divider for the rear. Xpel wrap with ceramic coating. 20% tint on front windows. TRD intake. TRD oil cap Plus parts on shelf & a wish list.
Years ago I was plowing in my '04 F-250 I suddenly struck a break a the concrete of a lot (I swear it lifted the rear of the truck off the ground). My 32oz soda went across the entire windshield and dash. I rushed to clean up as much as possible.
About 6 months later I kept having battery issues (charging & holding a charge). Luckily my brother in law is a Ford diesel tech. He ripped my truck apart & found where 1 drop of soda had caused 2 connections on the dash circuit board to fry (one was my battery light; no voltmeter in the cluster!).
Anyways $600 @ his cost & to calibrate the odometer. Soda is a closed item drink in vehicles!
They don't design them for repair. They design them for profit!
    Sorry for rant.

^this. I know 2 mechanics who quit and found a not so crooked dealer to work at. One guy had an old couple come in with a loose battery clamp. Per that dealships rule, sold them a new battery, all new cables, even dropped the starter and painted it, sold them their own newly painted starter back. Couple grand for a loose cable. nice.....not

I agree. The only dealership I know of that doesn't do that is....are you ready?...BMW. They charge so much that they don't have to. They tell you it's $125 per hour and we will give you the broken parts and warranty the new parts for 2 years. They tell you how many hours it will take and what the price of the parts are. You can do it or not. They will even tell you other garages that you can go to if you choose. If you let BMW do the work it will be really expensive. It's like gambling at Vegas , they don't have to cheat they're gonna win big if you gamble at their Casino.
