Very first mod- Plasti Dip rear emblems.


TRD front end added, TRD wheels, AVS window visors and N-Fab nerf bars.

 

HID headlights, Bilstein lift, Spidertrax spacers, switchback signals, TRD skid-plate and fog light overlays added.


Made a cardboard template for my fuse block to fit before cutting it out of a cutting board I bought off Amazon.


All cut out.


Fabbing it up...





Mounted up to extra sidewall holes with two L-brackets and an aluminum tube running down to the top of fender well.

 

Testing out a solution to mount my Blue Sea full time power console and battery monitor into the dash pocket. The first round of experiments I used a laser cutter to cut cardboard for fitment,, my plan was to use 1/2 thick wood and glue it together and sand it down to fit and paint it.. I scrapped that idea and moved onto 3D printing it.



Ended up modeling it in 3D and 3D printing a slide in mount .... fits great!!

 

Flat black painted rear valance added..


Front Valance and TRD front end added and painted matte black, TRD hood installed with matte black hood insert.

 

Bike rack added.

 

Solonoid added for dual battery install.

 

Skid plate painted with red TRD inserts.

Worklight highlighting the logo.

How did you do the scoop hood?

 

I bought it from a guy... I forget where I ended up finding him though...I was looking for months scouring forums for a good deal..it was genuine toyota...I also bought all the pieces that went with it(insert, mounting hardware) from Ebay (supposedly genuine Toyota as well)and had a good auto body shop paint it (they took the headlights out and feathered the paint into the body beautifully.. looks completely original) ... they also painted the insert flat black and installed it and the hood with the original seals and even the under hood foam insert, and painted my front and back valances and installed them as well for $1000.

After getting on this site I cannot tell if they even made a black or red letter one from the factory...

I probably read it in your build thread...

 

The red insert just stock out in 2019 (prior to that it was an after market thing) My skid plate was purchased in 2018 and did not have it. I debated whether to get it as I liked the understated look and I installled it anyway and had it that way for a couple of weeks but it was too much with the white/silver of the skid plate so I decide to plastidip my skid plate black. The reasoning being that if I didn’t like it, I could peel it off. I Plasti dipped it a couple of days ago... 5 or 6 good thick layers right over the insert, and then, since there was separation between the insert and the lettering, and also because the lettering was ultra smooth and the skid plate textured, it peeled off beautifully leaving the red in black. I installed it and I lovvvvvve it now... looks amazing!! We will see how the plastidip lasts, but if not I will have it powder coated black.

 

1. I cannot believe I didn't notice the change from silver to black. I love it.
2. Lots of experience with plastidip; none or a front bumper. Please, keep us informed!
The black & read with our black truck & the Apex recovery points will make the front complete, minus lights (for now!) Lol.
