You can get 5” x 36” (or similar) strips of 3M paint protection film for cheap on Amazon. Off-brands are even cheaper. That’d be a good way to go on that edge. Trim to the size you need.

So far so good. Gate traffic coming on post was horrible so I went around down a back gravel road to a different gate. No sliding on the wet bumpy road, would have been all over the place with the stock tires. I think I do have a little bit of rub in full lock in reverse. Heard something backing out of the driveway. Not too concerned, still have the mud flaps on so I'm sure its just rubbing on there somewhere.

Mine are stock size and rub when braking and turning tight. My wheel offset is -6, though

Try heating the mud-flap with a heat gun and pressing it in with a baseball bat, or some other blunt object. I keep meaning to do this with mine.

KO2's have a reputation for being bad in wet conditions, but I haven't had problems. I drive slow in the rain, though.

I've had 2 sets of KOs and 2 sets of KO2s on my previous 2 tacomas and never had a problem in the rain. Got over 60k miles per set.

I think my son still has some sidewalk chalk, going to rub that along the inside of the tire and see where the rub is. I think its along the mud flap where it gets a little thicker.

Not sure on a 4runner, haven't put a set on it yet, but all of them on the tacomas were over 60k, probably hit 70k on a set. All of those were E load rated.
I've had them in Florida with downpour rain, and in Washington state with constant drizzle and occasional snow, and didn't have an issue with wet weather performance. When its time for tires on the 4runner, I'll be going w KO2 in a C load rating.

I located the older type without the Red Letters and it’s on it’s way. A bit pricey but this will do for now.
It was one of two in the southeast region that’s still available.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
I just touched up a pretty good gouge there from someone dragging something out when we were camping. The Grand Cherokee I had and my wife's Forester have the black plastic protector that extends over this area. Toyota should have done something similar. I'm going to do something like you did to protect it.

That's good to hear! I haven't had issues. I actually had a close call recently in the rain, and was impressed with them. I came into a 30 MPH at about 60-70, and I was able to keep it on the road. It was dark and I didn't realize how sharp the turn was.

Mine are the C load rated stock size. They seem to exceed my expectations consistently.

Was able to snap on these door lock protectors, and Door limiting stopper protectors between Doctor visits. Cleans up the interior.

Had these on my 2nd gen Tacoma but they Didn’t fit the 4R. Found them on eBay, and shipped from China.

Those look really nice. I wonder if they would be counter-productive though, and actually trap water on the hinge and striker plates.

I keep a shot of white lithium grease on the hinge so no worries there.

Hard to believe in cold wet weather you have no issue. In Chicago winters KO2s are useless cold and wet. I even tried 2 sets thinking 1st was a lemon. Summertime I think they are the best, used to run defenders in the winter, they grip real good. The compound in KO2 changes when it gets cold

Yes, at first I thought it was road salt but the next winter, before any snow or salt under 40 degrees in rain was unsafe like diving on black ice. So bad I had to spring for another set of rim's and ran defenders for the rest the winter. Summer rain they were fine. Many in 4runner forums have said the same thing
I'm hopeful with the wildpeaks. Other forum has a thread where hundreds say they are awesome in cold wet climate. Summer performance is not bad but not near as good as the KO2s were when warm
