So on the other forum, there were a few people talking about this design and how the additional pipe is there to reduce drone in the cruising range of 1,500-2,000 rpms. Pretty interesting.

Would be cool to retrofit a 350z stock exhaust. Would sound REALLY GOOD!

On the new tacomas they have the stock exhaust set up just like this. People who wheel hard end up smashing up the piping going up to the exhaust tip.

    Just something to think about.

side exhaust was one of my main reasons for buying. I can punch it now with back window down and not worry about exhaust in the cabin. Back window weather permitting is down 100%

Dunno but the 1st day of driving it smelled from burning out the oil or whatever from manufacturing. Next day, window down, punch it and no fumes

So I just got back from an hour cruise. We all know the runner is not a race car.
Driving (my) normal conservative throttle, this TRD exhaust gives a good mellow sound, without drone, without the obnoxious raspy sounds that others have.
When I punch it, not over bearing or obnoxious. I have the sprint booster set at red 5 and have not tried it at the stock setting yet so not sure if that makes a difference.

So it's been over a month, any feedback on the trd intake/exhaust ?
I've had exhaust about a week after yours and intake for a week now. Really liking the outcome so far

I like it. Not loud unless you want it to be. Floor it and it's like a beast comes alive.
I drive conservatively so for me it's the little rumble I'm liking. I came from 150s and they pipe fake engine noise through the stereo to make you think the v6 sounds good. Nothing that I've seen or heard to date makes any 6 cylinder sound good. The trd is a compromise as imo, does not sound like total crap as others I've heard. Gibson and magnaflow on a runner.
I was curious how the op liked it

My friend really likes the setup. I do, too, I think it sounds pretty nice, and I notice a lot less drone in his cab compared to the URD exhaust on mine. I think you described it pretty well when you say the TRD intake\exhaust setup isn't loud unless you want it to be, and it's a smooth tuned sound

    It's about back pressure.

Backpressure refers to pressure opposed to the desired flow of gases in confined places such as a pipe. It is caused by the resistance provided by obstructions or tight bends in a confined space such as an exhaust system.

Reducing exhaust backpressure can improve fuel economy and performance. Reducing restrictions in the exhaust system allows the exhaust to flow more easily so the engine can breathe more efficiently. The most common modification is to replace the stock muffler with a low restriction aftermarket performance muffler, or to replace the entire stock exhaust system from the catalytic converter back with a free-flowing aftermarket performance exhaust.

That said, back pressure is also important. When the engine is engineered, a certain level of back pressure is calculated, and the engine is designed accordingly. Back pressure allows heat retention, and to remove it completely would result in a change to the engine thermodynamics that could result in warping, cracking, and other nasty things over time.

So, reducing back pressure a little helps performance, but you don't want to reduce it too much.

Good video, yes, he is right, but the title is misleading. Back pressure is bad yes, but the exhaust system, which is the main cause of the backpressure is very necessary for the proper evacuation of exhaust gases at the proper velocity, and the healthy operation of the ICE.

He states multiple times in the video that low back pressure is better, just as the title states. He also explains why

Hey Guys- Just getting into the Toyota world with a 2019 TRD Off Road. Confused why I can't buy this exhaust from a dealer. Have others installed this on other years? Thanks for any tips.

Since its Trd Pro exhaust some of the dealer do not wanted to sell it to none Trd Pro from what I have gathered only west coast is like that.
but lucky for us there are people that don't like it and will sell it so look on the market place

Our dealership would not sell pro parts if you don't own a pro.
The answer: get a vin number off of one for sale online. Then order the parts with that vin number online.
Beat them @ their own game!
    Good luck.
