Yea i edited my post, it sounded harsher than i meant it to sound, i apologize about that... Didnt proof read it before sending it. As far as the Bro thing goes, if that bothers you, social media and public forums might not be a good place to be. Just saying, i call EVERYONE bro in real life as well....

But I also didnt say YOU are lying about what you paid, just many do.

Deleted mine. Sorry, always hard to read people's tone on these forums.

No worries man, agreed. Very difficult to distinguish a persons tone online. And we all have different needs and wants in a vehicle, no harm in that either!!

Truth is, the 4runner in any trim is very capable. I went with the extra off road goodies to compensate for my lack of off-road experience. I'm definitely learning a lot so far. And, I'm constantly impressed by how easily the truck goes over things that seem difficult to me.

Been off roading all my life. Started around 8 years old with mini bikes, and 4 wheelers LOL. I have owned jeeps and chevys as well but really like the quality and dependability you get with toyota. i have had several tacomas as well. And they were off roaded pretty hard. Just wanted a change so went with a 4runner. First day i had it i took it to the sand dunes and pits and was pleasantly surprised with how capable it was even with the crappy stock tires i got with it.

My lift kit should be delivered next week, then ill be saving up for better tires, and then i will be able to really put it to the test. But i believe it will handle everything i will throw at it.

These were all taken within 5 miles of my house.

Thank you everybody for the info and opinions. I gave it to her yesterday and she absolutely loves it. She hasn’t stopped smiling!

We took it on a road trip to NY today and it was smooth sailing other than a few bumps here that I really noticed but I decided to check the PSI and it’s sitting at 51 on all 4 tires. I should have checked it before the road trip. Way too high!

I’m halving a set of Falken Wildpeaks AT3s put on tomorrow to give it a slightly more aggressive look!

The wildpeaks are very popular right now. I've heard mostly excellent reviews. Good choice!

51 PSI is ridiculous! I think the door says 32. I'm running 35, but only because I'm always carrying extra weight.

Glad to hear that the Misses is liking it!

On this train of thought, at what psi does the tpms warning go off, say, if you air down?

I usually air down to 25. Usually, the light doesn't come on right away. Then, it always seems to come on after the truck sits for a while. Maybe due to the tires cooling down and the pressure dropping a little more?

I bought a 2019 ORP with the KDSS because the added articulation makes for a smoother ride and better traction on rutted and rocky roads. On pavement it provides a flatter, sportier feel when cornering, and the added articulation makes for an overall smoother ride when cross lot driving through a parking lot with those concrete parking bumpers.

You will like whatever you have and get used to. I have a Trail with KDSS and purchased it for articulation and stability but I am still going to lift and stiffen the suspension, especially when adding new bumper and winch to front.

The first time I misjudged a highway off ramp and hit it way too fast and figured the body roll would throw me off the road, the KDSS kept it level and it magically turned, albeit with alot of tire skid and some severe puckering on my part. I now corner aggressively with confidence :)

Not sure I can tell about increased articulation when rock crawling but I haven't had an issue in 3 years. Agree with other comments about upgrading the OEM shocks even if you aren't lifting to stiffen it up a bit. I also changed my tires immediately to BFG AT K02 stock size (265) and run them at 40 psi. I will have to replace next year and will go up to 285 after I install the lift. I want the bigger tire to smooth out the rough terrain I find myself on more and more. Once I install an on-board compressor then I will air down....too many things to do :)

Agreed! Excellent ride quality and handling. I removed stock tires on my ORP at 500 miles for the Defenders LTX. Also when I purchased my truck I opted for non KDSS and have not been disappointed.

My 2016 trail had KDSS. I test drove my new 2020 without and could not for the life of me feel ANY difference. Don't think you made any mistake brother. I just picked mine up 2 days ago. 2020 SR5 4x4. Black with desert softex interior, moonroof, power front seats with heat, gps and running boards. GOD I love it !!!!!

We love it so far. Wife is happy as can be! I think the ride is great so I’m not sure how KDSS is but we are more than pleased without it!

Might kdss be an add-on like luggage rack cross bars? I say this facetiously. For a truck that’s already selling for $40k without kdss, it’s not like the truck is gonna totally suck if you don’t get the kdss.

seriously, the T4R is iconic and an incredible vehicle. It’s not gonna suck without kdss.

It’s another way for Toyota to get another couple grand out of the customer. Is it worth it? For Sure!! To many people it probably is. But for a lot of us, we’ll be (and are) more than happy without it. I don’t have car play In my 2017 and that’s ok. I also don’t have the latest iPhone.

I had a 2012 SR5 4WD, without KDSS of course, and it had perfectly acceptable on road manners. However, my current Off Road with KDSS does have better handling. I'm on a lot of curvy roads, and I don't notice as much body roll.

So long as she drives it like an SUV and not a racecar, she will be fine. Imo, Kdss just covers up a bad driving habit.
