Hi, and thank you for adding me to the forum!

I'm currently dealing with a 2015 JKU Lemon and I'm seriously considering dumping it for a 4Runner. I was waiting for the major refresh of the body, but it seems like that's now happening in 2022?

Anyway, after dealing with this nightmare car, I'm looking for reliability and low maintenance. I know Toyota's reputation is excellent, but they have had so many recalls recently that I got a little gun shy.

I'm exploring the forums to see any issues that I can find, but any honest opinions are welcome!

The 4Runner really is the only other vehicle that I can use for what I want other than the Jeep. I will never buy another FCA vehicle again...

    Welcome to the forum!

The 4runner is the most reliable vehicle you can buy, according to consumer reports. The article was posted in another thread recently.

I've put 20K miles on my 2019 so far, no problems. I'm sure there's a few guys with higher mileage that can add more.

I think the 4runner is the closest thing you'll find to a Wrangler for capability, as the dimensions are somewhat similar.

That said, it will not be as capable without some work. But, it's definitely worth it, IMO.

What it lacks (by comparison) in off road capability, it will more than make up for in daily driving comfort.

Go drive one! You're going to have a hard time leaving the dealership without it!

4Runner -- what recalls are you aware of that are not related to airbags? That's the only one I've seen, and it affected so many Japanese cars I'm not sure you could have bought one from 2008 since and not been affected

Welcome misschung! What recalls are you worried about? I know about the airbags for some models, but am curious if there's others that I missed...

I also had a 2015 JKUR that was a lemon; which ultimately led me on the path to my 4Runner. The only thing I miss about the jeep is taking tops and doors off in the summer, but aside from that, zero regrets. I also certainly don't miss having to fix something every other week, or the frequent trips back to the dealership.

I've been looking for a third/project vehicle that I need to tinker with. Sounds like a JK is right up my alley!

Welcome from FL. Even though mass produced, the 4runner is pretty bulletproof!

    Thanks, all!
Sounds like a 4Runner is a good choice. Hoping to find a 2020 on the lot soon to test drive

I just bought a 2020 last weekend and it's AMAZING! Absolutely no regrets - DO IT! Ironically, I also sold my 2016 JKU with a leaky roof and moved to a 4Runner....never looking back!
