Documenting 5300-ish Miles: AK-WA-NY

Long day. Posted up in Dawson Creek campgrounds. Kids have an expiration on travel time before the devil comes out. Lol. 

 

I know that's right! Keep the updates coming, what a great trip!

 

I want to see a Buffalo so bad. Gonna plan a trip someday just to see one!!!

In there natural environment....prob Yellowstone or something. When I get a new T4R....

 

Try not to get gored. I will get it on video..

 

There had to be 100 on the side of the road.

 

I have been averaging 18.3 mpg for the last few days. That will change when I pick up a roof rack during this trip. I'm going to try and pick one up in WA while I am there.

 

If you near Laird River you gotta to to the hot springs at the provincial park (Laird River PP)

 

We stopped at Jasper national park to look around a hike a bit. There is enough here that I could spend a week an still not see everything. Definitely a spot to plan for. It's a big tourist area and you need to make reservations well in advance if you want no hastle.

We reset in a hotel outside of Jasper and are headed to another campsite.

This place was a good spot to restock on camp fuel and other camp items. I purchased some fuel for my jet boil and bought a camp stove.

 

Setting up in Harris hot springs. Cozy spot with power, water and waste hookups for those with RVs...

 

Spent some time in the Vancouver Aquarium. They had a lot of jelly fish. Landed in WA to visit family before heading to NY.

 

Welcome back to the US.... My fuel can was stolen. Lol. ​

Missed one.

 

Yellowstone would have added two days to our trip so we bypassed it. Today will end at around 500 miles and a campsite. Not too many camping areas with trees so far; most are open fields of RVs crammed together. I think our selection will be good.

Last night we stayed at a hotel that allowed a guest to park in the loading zone... Blah.

 

Looks like one of the best PCS moves ever.

Rosebud campground.

We landed in Forsyth Montana. This is a good campground with plenty of downed trees to cut for firewood. There are fire rings with grille grates and you are next to a river for fishing.

We can hear live music pretty clear coming from main Street as the whole town is having a party; population 1300-ish.

We ate at FitzGerald's and it was some great mom&pop cookin'.

We ended up in Fargo after taking a detour to the enchanted highway on exit 72.

Regent is a very small town, about 150 people.

 

What a fantastic trip. Your kids will remember this their entire lives. You're great parents. Thanks for sharing.

 

We have a heard of about 100 or so in a designated natural area (Soapstone Natural Area) in the northern part of our county bordering Wyoming... It is very cool to just be able to drive 45 min and see them walking around in natural habitat.

It is close to the highway but that's ok; can get up and go.

Its clean and well maintained.

 

I love fishing below abutments. It’s just a fish magnet. I had a great spot for smallmouth bass, it’s below a dam, could catch 3-5 pounders all day long in early spring. But people left a lot of trash and I lost access....
