So I installed some of the Diode Dynamics HP36 reverse lights (210 Lumens-the middle grade) and I got to say that I am fairly disappointed for the money I spent. They are brighter than the factory halogen bulbs but really not that much better. The backup camera looked much better (still didn't throw that much distance lighting-just like the factory bulb) but looking out the side windows was just meh... I do have tinted windows but I rolled them down. For 44 bucks I feel like I got completely ripped off...

Today i installed the fyre fly interior lights. I got their 3014s i think they call them... The more expensive and brighter sets of the 2 they offered.

Definitely an improvement. Not as bright as the MESO lights i had in my Tacoma, them things were insane... but for the price of $45 or so I'm not disappointed. Way better than stock. I didn't bother with the license plate bulbs, they include them... but i feel like those don't help me any LOL

Also threw the husky cargo mat in the back. I like it.

Glove box and center console organizers and tray are also complete... Love them. Very useful cheap mods. I did have to cut the center console organizer to be able to use it the way i prefer... With the stock slide out devider... But easy 20 second job. Now it's perfect.

I'm about done with the cheap mods... Just need to get the badge overlay kit and would like the ajt stick shift too... After that I'll probably just drive it and save for tires and maybe... Possibly... A lift...

I wish this forum was more active than the other 4runner forum. I hate the layout of that place. I get a headache trying to navigate it. I guess this place is so familiar because of tacoma world... But regardless here It's easier to find everything and read through posts.

It would be nice with a little more traffic but we should all be careful what we ask for...much happier place here.

Definitely a much angrier place...and honestly I just don't get it. It's a forum dedicated to a specific model and due to the nature the same questions are going to be asked thousands of times and not everybody wants or needs a rock crawling 5th gen 4Runner. Quite annoying, I left a while ago and don't sign in anymore. You really want them to get them angry over there, tell them a SR5 is a capable offroad truck....:bananadance:

Yeah - I did it a while back. It seems like I'm always driving home in the rain this summer. Lights on in the rain in daylight means dim everything.
Cheap fix for the lazy - me.

I did as well. I like the f&r parking lights on w the drl and with out the sensor the screen dimmed in the day; with sensor it remains on. Its already wired w the orp so for $8.00 might as well

I assume you had the wiring under the cap?
What do you leave the headlights on so they work in auto mode?
That other site is hard to read.
    Auto headlights would be awesome.
    What about DRL?
    Thanks.

In case you guys don't know, even without the auto headlight setting on the switch, you still have auto headlights. My 2016 SR5 does not have an auto setting. If I leave the headlight switch in the on position, they come on every time I start the truck, and turn off about 30 seconds after I shut the truck off. If I click lock twice on the remote after I get out of the truck, they shut off right away. This is a cool mod but really not needed and there are other methods that can be used for those that are not pre wired.

The problem with this is when you start the truck with the lights on during the day; you cannot see the display or clock...
    Maybe I am missing something...
    Thanks.

I have no problems at all. What is your dimmer switch set at? I keep mine as bright as possible so maybe that's why I don't have a problem?

We keep ours on high also. We have tinted windows also. We are about to take the dog to the park. I will try it & report back.

Okay, with it is clicked to max the screen & dash come onto high as they should. The clock remains low. With no clock in the radio. We need to see that.
Maybe I am missing something still. No worries. It works (for us) the way it is.
    Thanks!

This is not for everyone especially if your hard core off road. I'm in Chicago and only off-road I see is in potholes that can qualify for rock crawling.
Rigid reverse lights I've had on all my trucks, need them living next to a park. Kids fly by day and night so now I can see them! I was going to use a tailgater repellent switch but decided against this time. People here shoot you for fun. Piss them off makes it fun to shoot you. They automatically come on in reverse or I can leave them off. Night time pics later if not raining.

Yes, I tapped the backup light wire on the hitch. Works with shifting into reverse.
Picked up another hitch connector to make room for the light..oh yeah had to lose the recovery hook for the bracket. Could have modified it and kept it...don't need it here in chi town.
Oh. Ch 4x4 light switches suck. Every time If I press to hard it pushes into the dash.
Anyone know of a switch that will fit and stay put! Thanks

The reverse lights need to be brought out Abit with a different bracket. Once done it will cast some more light. Here's rear camera view with and without the rigids. Also a view using side mirrors.

We all got different taste thankfully.

I like the sr5 grille with the black overlay on the Toyota insignia better than the trd pro grille. Hell lots of people are putting pro grilles on sr5s... I'm not calling them ugly. But I damn sure wouldn't trade mine out.

I think his rims look better than the trd pro wheels as well. Especially since everyone and their mother has them on every T4R and tacoma these days, even on the lower trims. Hell I'll rock my plain jane sr5 wheels over the trd pro wheels too.

    3100 lumen each
I got them at stage 3 motorsports during a 4th July sale for around 200. Rigid makes a cheaper version but has 1/2 the lumen for 200 - If you order it besure to get the diffused lens. I bought the kit comes with wiring and whatnot, they sell without but not sure on the cost.
Here is from Summit but many sell them. Labor Day sales be coming round the corner!
Edit- other link was wrong - the pictures are not correct at summit, they have clear/ diffused lens with wrong item. they both share the same part#
    https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rgd-905513blk

Heres the item I bought.. was 239 just looked up my invoice

Cool mod. I was wondering it you had seen the Tails as Turn mod? I was thinking about doing it, but have decided yet.
