Looks like Firestone finally updated the destination AT tire and it now comes with the snowflake rating.

Those looking for a deal on the original destination A/T since it will soon be discontinued should start looking between now and labor day weekend.

Did they rework their manufacturing system after millions of Firestone’s started peeling apart a few years ago?

That was 18 years ago. I would think so since they are still in business.

Plus the problem was with the ford Exploder which back then was poorly designed and exhibited dangerous oversteer.

The tires that were involved in these accidents were P235/75R15 ATX and ATX II tires and P235/75R15 and P255/70R16 Wilderness AT tires.

    all discontinued tires.

Looks like Goodyear and Michelin also had tire separation issues in the past also

The A/T1's have been great on my 4Runner so far. Lot's of great reviews on longevity as well.

    A/T2's look really nice.

They also have a tire called the Destination XT coming out. Looks like a BFG A/T KO2 competitor.

Had destinations on an 11 Jeep, traded it at 30k miles they still had enough tread it be hard to tell they weren't new.
Only thing I have against firestone is the auto service shops! They specialize in taking avantage of people. When I was getting those tires the guy at the counter was telling an old lady she needed 10 coilpacks on a Ford focus and would cost North of 1k?
I said to the guy....Since when do 4 cylinder cars need 10...he said it was a Ford thing! Looked into it and found that seemed to be common practice for them to scam people

I love Destination ATs. I have a set on my 4R, my second set. I need to get a set for my Taco, may need to accelerate that plan and buy a set of the outgoing Destinations at a better price. Damn fine tire for the kind of stuff you actually do with a 4WD vehicle. I've also never had anything but good experiences at the local Firestone... their lifetime alignment is great for tinkering with various suspension and tire changes.

So the destination AT will be split into 2 directions

    Destination A/T2 and X/T
The Firestone Destination A/T2 and Destination X/T tires combined will replace the current Destination A/T tire, and both new tires will be available in August. Like the WeatherGrip, both of these tires are also Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake certified.

The A/T2 tire is designed for p-metric tire sizes while the X/T is designed for light truck applications.

So if you really liked the original destination AT and do not want to be split between the 2 new choices you can always go with the bridgestone revo 3

i have owned both the revo 3 and the destination at. I can vouch for the revo3 as a great alternative that is just as good.

Just as MeefZah, I have always had good experiences at Firestone. Not to say someone hasn't, just my personal experience. One thing to keep in mind is that Firestones are all franchised and independently owned. So one could have very different experiences at one vs the other. I will say, I've gone to 3 separate Firestones for alignments (based on where I was living at the time) and have had positive experiences at all of them.

I've heard really good thing about the Revo 3 as well. I just happen to like the look of the tread pattern on the Destination A/Ts better.

    I Agree,

I was planning on switching to those tires after the revo's wear out. Looks like that won't happen
