Waiting for the 2020 models to arrive. A few questions 1) is the KDSS a bonus. Also was thinking of no sunroof for more headroom. Glad I found the forum and cant wait to get one. Thanks

I believe the kdss is pretty standard on the ORP (maybe dealer specific). It is optional but the dealers near me rarely sell non-kdss 4runners. The headroom should be negligible (I’ve driven both on the 4th gen).

There are many more knowledgeable people here than myself but hopefully this helps. (T4r.org) might also have the answers you’re looking for!

No sunroom for more headroom? Hmmm I don't get that logic. There's either glass there or there isn't not really a space thing.

Yeah I personally can take or leave them also. I have one and probably open it 12 times a year. I figure it's just a nice (overall popular) option to have for resale. When I don't want the sun close the shade no biggie. To me it's like Nav now-a-days you can live without it with your phone but still nice to have and again popular with lots of folks. I actually think my phone gives better easier to understand directions than Toyotas but I'm not using data with the on board option.

My experience if helpful - When shopping for a Tacoma, I found that the extra headroom lost from the sunroof (couple inches or so) was problematic for me. I had to recline the driver’s seat to keep my head from rubbing over bumps or wearing any sort of hat. However, my 4Runner has a lot more headroom naturally than my Tacoma, especially with the driver’s seat adjusted lower, and I would be totally fine with a sunroof. I did buy one without a sunroof but it would not be a deal breaker for me on the 4Runner like it was on the Tacoma. Test drive different models and see for yourself. Good luck!

You guys must be tall with the no headroom thing. I'm 5-10" keep the seat up a bit for better view of traffic and still have plenty of headroom!
I love the sunroof and wouldn't live without, more so with the 4runner rear window! Hwy driving with side windows up and sun/rear open makes for about perfect breeze and little road noise from the semi trucks! back roads roll open all of them and for me is awesome. I hardly run the A/C except once a week to keep it from going stagnant

KDSS is not a bonus, it's a suspension/sway bar feature that provides on-road performance benefits; it frequently divides in a love-hate way, so make sure you test drive with and without to see how you feel about it

What the 2020 does offer, of course, is TSS and CarPlay; otherwise it's more or less than same as 2019, so if these aren't features you value, save time and money and get what's on the lots today
