I’ve made the change from a 16 Tacoma TRD Sport to a 18 4Runner TRD OR. I had sold most of the add-ons I had on the Taco and now have $1,500 to spend on new parts. The 4Wheel Parts show will be in Orlando this coming weekend and looking to get some deals on parts and installation.
I’m not sure if I should spend the $$$ on a 2-3" suspension lift? I wouldn’t need anything extreme, just for some light Florida trail’s. My other like, would be folding power mirrors by KTJO 4x4, radio head unit and darker window tint?
I was able to transfer speakers, Morimoto LED's, Rav4 side mirrors, rims and tires from the taco.

If you have any suggestions for lift or head unit, that would be awesome!

Before I vote, could you answer one question?

What would you prefer to do first?

    Thanks for your reply.
Tough question! I know how I would like my 4Runner to look in the end.
Do I buy the lift now and potentially get it at cost and discount on installation or risk missing out on KTJO 4x4 Folding powers mirrors. My luck she decides to stop making them when I have the money to spend. The Folding power mirrors would make it a little easier parking in my garage. I have to make sure not to hit my passenger side mirror on side wall.
Folding power mirrors would make parking convenient and I would get the Power Fold Complete Mirror Set Core Exchange, $625 and possible -$250 refund. After market head unit will have Apple Car Play, so I can listen to Pandora and use Waze for navigation.
Suspension lift, 4Runner will look nicer and not look like every other 4runner in the mall parking lot.

You could possibly get both the suspension and one of the other items on your list for pretty close to $1,500 if you piece together your suspension and install it yourself. Is that something you're willing to do?

Unfortunately I don’t have the knowledge to install a suspension setup. If I do go with a suspension, hopefully the show will have discount on installation.

Personally to me stuff like folding mirrors is stuff you can live without.

I'd save a little more for the suspension with installation.

People love lift, but really you don't need it unless you want to run oversized tires. But if you drive daily (and park near other cars) than the creature comforts like mirrors and radio head unit are useful. I'd sit on your new rig for a while before you decide what you want.

If I were in your position and wanted to bolt up, I'd skip the lift and instead buy sliders and/or aluminum skids.

See the post a few posts down titled "Eibach Pro Lift"?

You could buy that for $550, have someone install it for roughly $500 and still have $500 left over for another item.

That's an awesome suspension kit by the way. I have those same shocks on my front end.

Anyways, that's my vote and what I would do if you want the best bang for your buck.

There are plenty of folks in the Tampa area (Taco No Baka and rattletrap66, both from tacomaworld) who know how to do installs and will likely help you on that part. These vehicles are way too easy to do suspension installs on. If you are insistent upon paying someone to do the install, bring your 4Runner to me over in Port St. Lucie and I’ll do it for $300.

DO NOT PAY SHOP LABOR RATES FOR SUSPENSION INSTALL.

Secondly, if you are going to be riding trails, power folding mirrors are the last thing you want. My recommendation is to get the lift, get help installing so you learn how to do it and save the money on the labor costs so you can better spend it elsewhere.

I will have a set of Bilstein 5100s with 3rd gen Tacoma coils (1.75” lift up front) and 1” bilstein rear coils and rear 5100’s for sale in a week or 2 once my ADS coilovers show up. $450 for the lift stuff. Buy my bilsteins and I’ll install for free. Only have about 3k miles on the 5100’s.

Thanks for the offer and I may have to take you up, for the Bilsteins. The family and I travel over to Melbourne quite often to visit the in-laws, so Port St. Lucie is about 1hr south. Is the install something that could be done on the weekend or during the week? I not afraid to get dirty and would like to learn how to install setup. Tacoma coils, is that compatible? Do you have any pictures, curious how it looks/right height. I’m going over to Orlando this weekend to check out the 4wheel parts show. Anything I should look into? Thanks.

We could have the install done in about 3-4 hours. Here it is on my 4Runner.
    C87731DC-81E8-4125-97A7-8B344C136816.jpg

The 3rd gen Tacoma TRD OR coils are 615 or 620 pound coils and help stop the nose dive when braking. Tires are 285/70/17’s so not much bigger than stock. Lift provided with this setup is 1.75” up front and 1” in the rear.

Truck is dirty right now from all the rain.

I would look at getting upper control arms at the show along with whatever else you want.

No luck finding UCA’s at the show. 4wheel parts is going to get me a price quote on JBA’s with show discount price Monday. If anything I’ll just order JBA’s from their website.
