Anyone pull an all nighter?

It’s wierd if I wear my amplified ear muffs I pick up interference from this website. Like a clicking...

 

The lone Mallard.....Tore’em up yesterday, big crappie, Largemouth Bass, and two turtles were fighting one had the others leg so I hook’em and let him go. Today I switched to a bigger broken back minnow. Had one monster hit but he missed it...

 

"anyone pull an all-nighter"......every night I have to work, yes.

 

I used to do it pretty regularly. I was working 4 day weeks. I would head to the lake after work on Thursday and stay until Friday morning.

I was shore-fishing for flathead catfish. I would catch my bait and get my lines out, then just sit and wait. I took many naps laying on shore. Usually I would get woken up by a bell or bait-clicker.

I caught many 30-40# fish. Of course, I lost a real monster due to a bad knot once. That fish looked to be 60+.

Nice!! I cast my rods out and bring them in the living room.....Should try tonight...usually takes about six hours to get a monster....The tidal Potomac is a different story, I can time it to the tide and have one on in 15 minutes out in the channel...

I've found you're better off not asking.

 

Used to anchor on the Umpqua river and fish for Spring Chinnok all day and for stipers all night. Great to hear that line ripping off the reel in the middle of the night.

 

Ya we can’t fish for stripers at night. All kinds of rules governing them. It’s in right now I think two over 20in......

 

What state are you in? I haven't looked at the striper regs here in Oregon for a long time.....but we've had a 30" min and open year round. They're a non-native, predatory invasive....which are decimating our native species....but are still managed as a game fish. They grow big here. An old friend landed a 72lb and a 44lb in one night years ago.

 

Virginia. But Striper fish Maryland, the season is longer. It’s the charter boat’s bread and butter. And I usually fish for them when it’s warm and all the big ones are back out in the Atlantic. But I have landed a ten pounder and my friend caught a 36 inch citation off of my boat with Softshell crab...I just have a lil 16 foot CC...I focus on trout in the spring and ate 152 this year, then catfish in the summer.

 

Let’s see what cruises by this evening. Got four HD rods out.....

Why do you have the poles so flat in the holder? If we did that here one decent bite and I would be swimming for my stuff.

 

They have been that way for thirty years. It has more angle than it looks. Plus the ones on the left have wire to harness the reel. The PVC is smaller in diameter too. So the handle fits very snug....The dock does need work. But still holding up......

 

PB 42 1/2 inches. Almost state record Channel Cat.....On light tackle.....

 

GD Catfish. Ive been fishin for 8 hours not a nibble. Someone hasn’t been practicing catch and release.

 

That's monstrous for a channel cat! Our state record is 44#. My best is around 15#. I saw one cruising in shallow water in the fall years ago that looked like a solid 30#. I would love to tangle with a big channel cat!

 

Ya 32# is the record here. Prob broke it, I only measured it and released it. Then a guy Bass fishin the next day said he saw the biggest catfish of his life dead upriver. Towards the direction it swam...
We’re getting a shower now maybe they will bite....

 

At 42.5", a flathead is usually in the mid 30# range, so you definitely could have. Awesome fish!

 

I’ld be happy with a Snapping Turtle at this point.....

 

Ha! I always seem to catch turtles when I'm trying for catfish

 

Softshells are one of my favorites. Only one I’ve ever seen was ran over in front of my house...

 

It’s a different world at night. Calm and quiet. Then the planets start coming out and constellations.

 

I lost an anchor, had to tie off to a buoy. New anchor that will hold in the current=$120!!!

 

These unlit buoys are what you have to watch out for traveling at night.
