Why doesn’t the pro come with the trd intake

Cost more and they have to modify the harness.

Oh I know. I just think it’s funny that I have a trd pro, and it doesn’t have a trd pro intake.

But it does help the engine sound less like a blender add some headers and a mid pipe and it will almost sound like a real truck.

No answer. I saw it on a Tundra Pro (inside the stealership). Maybe a dealer thing. I saw our local stealership installing a pro rack & skid. I figured that they came that way!
I did install it (TRD intake) this weekend though.
No significant "performance" increase; but, it does allow the engine to breathe easier & adds a nice engine noise instead of the factory vacuum sound.
It has a little but more punch mid range but nothing significant.
An engine is a simple air pump. Unrestricted intake is better than torque tubes & tons of sound deadening materials.
Simply physics. Just like drag coefficient. The difference is minimal till they all add up.
Look at any 5th gen exhaust after the cat. Small as hell!
Every cm helps (that is what she said)! Sorry. LolScreenshot_20190803-155118_Gallery.jpg

    Modify the harness...
I hope you are joking! You have to redirect some wires. Yes, you do have to cut a sheath off. It is silly easy; I promise.

Because the TRD Pro trim is a just a glorified appearance package.

    With better shocks...
    Which could be just stickered!
Since they are a wear item & most lift theirs...
Still, the TRD intake should be OEM for the Pro's. Absolutely!

Does this look like a major modification?
We wrapped the wires in electrical tape and then sheathing. Very easy. Hardest part was cutting the factory loom to not hit wires (we cut from the inside out...
Patience is the only key to this install that is completely worth it.
    Just my $0.02

I'm aware, I have done it. Just thinking of a Toyota "tech" doing it makes me want to vomit.

Well a Toyota tech installs everything the PRO has on it at the port when it comes into the country. The only thing on the PRO (which is really a Offroad/Trail) that is installed at the factory is the special color.

Was wondering if you would not mind posting a pic of the area above the intake box? Now that I know the s&b intake will not fit my sr5, Thinking of either getting the trd or afe momentous gt intake. But have to be absolutely sure on it fitting.

I'm 99.99% positive this statement is false. (the exception being the predator side steps) The rest is 100% Tahara factory in Japan. I actually have a friend who is a manufacturing engineer there. First hand knowledge.

The minimal performance gain (larger intake box to house the cooler air) is nice. So is the sound. But I am actually after making the engine run a little leaner. For better MPG. If my anti-life equation .... err.... CIA cost equation is correct, It will pay for itself in gas savings after 3 years.

    W / ((X% * CP) * CE)= years till money is made back
    $300 / ((5% * 37.5) * 52) = 3 years
    CP = cost of tank
X% = percent better fuel efficency
CE = tanks used per year
W = cost of af cai

No it wont save mpgs either. Maybe If you get your ecu tuned you might see some mpg savings. Read up on the trd intake I dont believe they claim meaningful mpg gains.

Will look into it. I know s&b don't either. But every other cai manufacturer does. Posts I've seen report that it has as well. Still, once I know it fits will do some more research. Thanks.

Any modern engine with a closed loop feedback on the 02 sensor will have no impact to mileage with new parts due to a change in A/F ratios because the engine will never "lean out"... Your ECU will keep everything in check and work to maintain a set air/fuel ratio. However, a less restrictive intake, and exhaust reduces the pumping loss of the engine, and that can see some minor fuel economy improvements...

It's true. Pro's come off the line as TRD Offroads and are made to be Pro's when they hit port. They have installation teams that put all the Pro goodies on. The only thing that Tahara does on the Pro is spray the unique color (if it's one with a unique color).

Check out the picture below. This is a Pro that has landed at Port. No TRD Pro badges, no Pro roofrack, no Pro wheels, no pro suspension (cant see that in the picture).

Well not entirely true it comes as an OR.

The bumper valence is wrong color. Everything else yes is put on locally.

and so much for that friend in engineering with first hand knowledge.

Yes but the OR is silver. So the Pros don't come completely as a OR.

I would gladly grad you another picture or post one I have. However, I don't understand your question about where. Is this a hood clearance issue?
Trim shouldn't matter for a CAI.
I need clarification & will be glad to help.

Sorry if it was confusing. Someone else was able to help me out. I needed to see from a top down view the area "past" the filter housing. Looks like the trd will fit my sr5 2wd. Thanks.
